Amodei's newly detailed strategy represents a direct response to these growing safety concerns, seeking to establish a structured framework for the ongoing rollout of advanced AI models across the sector.

The proposed plan leans heavily on two primary mechanisms: the use of independent safety evaluators and close coordination between AI laboratories located in democratic countries. By introducing independent evaluators into the development pipeline, the framework aims to provide external oversight. Meanwhile, limiting coordination to democratic nations is intended to foster collaborative safety standards among globally aligned players.

While Amodei's proposal has already picked up some support within the technology industry, it has also faced immediate and significant opposition. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has delivered pointed pushback against the idea of pacing or restricting development.
